Assumptions:

1. Your hard drive has been operating normally for at least some period of time on the same computer.
2. This troubleshooting procedure applies whether you have one or two hard drives. For simplicity the following procedures assume you have one external hard drive.
3. You are using the Seagate hard drive and USB cable provided with your MVHD. Operation cannot be guaranteed if you use different USB cable or hard drive.
4. The computer must be on and operating normally.

Do the following:

1. Check physical USB connections at the computer, at the rear of the MVHD, and inside the MVHD. Loose connections are the most common source of trouble.
2. Disconnect and reconnect the external USB cable. If the drive reappears in your operating system you should disable USB power management. If the drive is not found you should troubleshoot the problem as if you are hooking up your MVHD for the first time.
